Music for a One Million Pixels is an interactive art installation where sounds and visuals respond to your control and directions. Push buttons and turn knobs to see how you affect change in this generative system.
A composer and a video game developer collaborated to build this project where musical notes and individual pixels know how to “think for themselves”, much like the murmuration behavior of starlings. Watch and hear the swooping and swirling of cloud-like formations, as both dots and notes mind their neighbors’ business while flocking together and flying apart.
